Episode 15 9/18/2020
with Deb Flashenberg
This week we chatted with Deb Flashenberg about all things prenatal yoga! As two certified yoga teachers, it is always fun to riff with another teacher. There are so many amazing myths around what you can and cannot do as a pregnant person and we take a good stab at breaking down some of those stories. Should a pregnant person twist? How do we find a “middle path” for our clients when it comes to prenatal preparation? All this and more in this episode!
After being witness to several “typical” hospital births, Deb FLashenberg felt it was important to move beyond the yoga room and be present in the birthing room. In 2003, Deb attended her first birth as a DONA certified labor support doula and has attended over 100 births. Deb is continuously in awe of the beauty and brilliance of birth and the many amazing, unique ways birth unfolds for each individual person. Deb’s curiosity and desire to continuously learn about pregnancy, birth and parenthood lead her to her most recent undertaking the podcast, Yoga| Birth | Babies. Drawing on her experience as a prenatal yoga teacher, labor support doula, childbirth educator and mother, Deb hopes to support the pregnant person with functional yoga asana to create a functional birth and ease into parenthood feeling empowered and honored on this sacred journey of birth and beyond.
